Animal Medicine

In recent years, Katie has been traveling to Haiti to train veterinary technicians at the CAPROFORS vocational school in Mirebalais, Haiti. The school and program is sponsored by the Lake Country Rotary Club in Wisconsin.

Although Haiti has a good amount of agriculture, there are currently relatively few people there with advanced degrees in veterinary medicine. Along with others, Katie contributes her time to teach essential veterinary skills to veterinary medical practitioners living throughout Haiti. Here's a photo of one of the classes:

The teachers in this photo (taken a few years back) were Nick (top left), Katie (left, below Nick) and Joe (bottom right.) Joe is a retired mixed practice veterinarian from Oregon, Nick is a practicing small animal veterinarian in Wisconsin, and Katie is a resident at Cornell's animal hospital in upstate NY.
